Abstract

Now days the universities are forced to use pedagogical and technological innovations, that allow the incorporation of virtual environments, to assure the quality in the education, regardless the modality (blended learning, e-learning) of the professional courses.Nevertheless there has been detected faults in the implementation of the platforms that support the e-learning, since the contents are oriented towards the theoretical foundations, leaving the practices in the background. Therefore, the teachers must acquire the necessary skills to develop the applications that provide other alternatives to the student, like the ones which offer the virtual reality, ideal complement to make dynamic e-learning.
The virtual reality proposes to the educators a new way to stimulate the students towards learning a given subject, in any area of the knowledge through visual surroundings in
third dimension (3D), highly intrusive, in order to experiment freely and heuristically the virtual scenery that simulate real and unattainable places in time and space. For the construction of virtual worlds it is mentioned VRML (Virtual Reality Modeled Language), due to the advantages that present in contrast to
other tools. In addition the author’s experiences are presented in the project’s development and orientation with VRML.

Key words: Information and Communication Technologies, E-learning, Virtual Reality, Immersion, VRML (Virtual Reality Modeled language) Simulated Environments, Collaborative Learning.
ER -
