Abstract
From our corpus of analysis it could be inferred that in a social fi eld dominated by men, the autonomy of the female gender, far from be claimed, it was represented as madness, hysteria or neurosis, mental states that were considered common pathologies of the woman “due to her natural predisposition”. At the end of 19th century, the professionals involved in the medical sciences had become supervising social that they decoded/deciphered and controlled the language of bodies. They determined the possibility of their capture system and their network of domain and assessed their feasibility for inclusion in socio-economic modernity. The writers did not escape to the conservative conception of the moral code that defi ned the “irresponsible” behaviour.
