Sputtering en la descarga luminiscente anormal a 800 °C

Abstract

Durante los procesos de tratamiento superficial o de sinterización en el cátodo de una descarga luminiscente anormal es inevitable la presencia del sputtering, debido al bombardeo de la superficie de la pieza por iones y especies neutras rápidas. En este trabajo se reporta el sputtering sufrido por muestras de acero 1020 y de cobre colocadas en el cátodo de una descarga luminiscente con flujo de argón a una temperatura de 800 °C en el cátodo. El proceso de sputtering fue llevado a cabo en corriente continua y también con corriente continua pulsante, encontrándose una menor tasa de sputtering con este último tipo de señal, reflejada en la menor pérdida de masa de las muestras utilizadas. También se determinó que cuando se utiliza corriente continua pulsante se requiere una menor potencia en la descarga luminiscente para mantener una misma temperatura en el cátodo de la descarga. Mediante análisis de microscopia óptica de la superficie de las muestras, también se observa menor homogeneidad superficial en las muestras sometidas a la descarga luminiscente anormal en corriente continua pulsante.
