Declaration of ethics and good practices

The Inquietud Empresarial Journal (Revista Inquietud Empresarial - RIE), seeks to promote the scientific dissemination of excellence, is committed to complying with quality standards and ethical behavior at all stages of the publication process. To this end, the journal adheres to the ethical guidelines and standards of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

ETHICAL PRINCIPLES

RIE recognizes and adopts the 16 Principles of Transparency and Best Practices in Academic Publications established by COPE (Committee of Publication Ethics), which are reflected in the journal's contents, practices, and editorial structure as follows:

Journal contents

  1. Name of journal: Since its creation, RIE has kept its name, and has established its thematic spectrum and scope, to avoid confusion with other journals or organizations.
  2. Website: RIE manages its website through an Open Journal Systems platform, which provides clear and updated information on its focus, scope, target audience, types of manuscripts it publishes, structure and editorial policy, processes, and editorial procedures.
  3. Publishing schedule: RIE has a continuous frequency and declares and indicates it publicly in its guidelines (2 times a year).
  4. Archiving: RIE has a preservation policy and states it in its guidelines.
  5. Copyright: The journal clearly establishes its copyright policy, in terms of the conditions of authorship, co-authorship and ownership of copyright on accepted manuscripts.
  6. Licensing: RIE uses a Creative Commons license. These licenses are reflected both in the editorial policy and in the final versions of the published articles.

Editorial practices

  1. Publication ethics and related practices: RIE has a specific section for publication ethics and follows the good practices and recommendations of COPE.
  2. Peer review: RIE describes in detail how the evaluation process is carried out and its different stages following the "double blind" system.
  3. Access: RIE does not have subscription costs and publishes its contents in open access, through a Creative Commons license of attribution, non-commercial and without derivatives (BY-NC-ND).

Organization

  1. Ownership and management: The review is sponsored by the School of Business Administration, Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences, and the Pedagogical and Technological University of Colombia.
  2. Organizational structure: Information on the editorial structure of the journal is found on the website and is associated with the ORCID and resumes.
  3. Editorial team and contact information: Complete information on the editorial team and contact is included on the journal's website.

Business practices

  1. Author fees: RIE follows the “diamond” open access model, so there are no submission or publication costs for its authors.
  2. Other revenue: The journal's income comes from the School of Business Administration, the Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences, and the Pedagogical and Technological University of Colombia.
  3. Advertising guideline: the journal does not make advertising guideline.
  4. Direct marketing: The journal works under a subsidized open access model, with no charge for publishing, so it has no commercial interest in the publication of manuscripts. Its objectives are focused on sharing knowledge, creating a community of collaborators, and attracting a diverse and inclusive audience, within its thematic spectrum.

ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS FOR REVIEWERS

There are some considerations that reviewers are encouraged to consider:

  1. Review approach: Comments on the manuscripts must be argumentative, respectful, and focused on the adjustments to be made by the authors to improve their manuscript.
  2. Protection of information and content: Considering that reviewers are entrusted with manuscripts that may contain novel knowledge and/or important scientific information, the improper use of this information is unacceptable and can be considered a serious offense.
  3. Impersonation: Entrusting the evaluation of a manuscript sent by the journal to a third party (doctoral student, colleague, among others), is not appropriate and could compromise the quality of the review.
  4. Thoroughness of the concepts: To guarantee that the corrections are made correctly and easily, the journal asks the reviewers to be precise in their appreciation of the shortcomings and/or possible improvements to the manuscript.

ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS FOR AUTHORS

Authorship: The journal adheres to the ICMJE criteria to establish that an author is one who:

  1. Makes substantial contributions to the conception or design of a manuscript, acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data.
  2. Has participated in the writing of the manuscript and has critically reviewed it, contributing essential content.
  3. Has approved the final version of the manuscript.
  4. Responds for the accuracy or completeness of any part of a manuscript, in such a way that it clarifies or resolves any doubt that may arise about it.

Contribution of the authors: The contributions of each author in a manuscript must be declared.

Exclusivity in submission: Making a simultaneous application to another journal is considered unethical, so the journal asks its authors for exclusivity in the application or submission process. This refers to the fact that while the manuscript is being evaluated in RIE, it cannot be submitted to another journal.

Complaints: Authors can request information and express objections about any process of the journal that has caused them disagreement. For this you can contact the email: inquietude.empresarial@uptc.edu.co

Replies: If an author does not agree with the final decision of the journal on the manuscript, they can send a reply. This communication must be addressed to the chief editor and be sent to the email: inquietude.empresarial@uptc.edu.co

Suspected misconduct: If a reader detects manipulation or misconduct in a published manuscript, they can report it to inquietude.empresarial@uptc.edu.co. In addition, if a reviewer identifies any suspicion of unethical conduct in an article under review, he or she should notify the editor-in-chief or associate editor responsible for the review.

Corrections: Corrections will be made in a published article, if the identified error is not intentional, and can lead to misunderstandings but does not affect the interpretation of the results or the contributions of the work. Examples include error in the author's name or information, error in the title of a graph, among others.

Retractions: If a published article is identified as having a serious fault such as plagiarism, fabrication and manipulation of data, erroneous co-authorship, among others, the journal will publish a retraction note on the article. This note will explain the reasons for the retraction, in addition, full access to the manuscript will be restricted.

Plagiarism, falsification, omission, and fabrication of data

The journal has "Zero Tolerance" with cases of fabrication, falsification, omission of data and plagiarism.

  • The fabrication of results is caused by showing data invented by the authors.
  • Forgery results when data is manipulated and changed at the whim of the authors.
  • The omission originates when the authors deliberately hide a fact or data.
