Publication Process

Inquietud Empresarial follows a publication process consisting of three stages:

  1. Content Management, which includes processes for inviting authors to submit manuscripts for regular and special (thematic) editions and external peer review through the double-blind system.
  2. Editorial Production, the stage where all approved manuscripts undergo professional editing, including preparation of approved originals, style correction, verification and incorporation of corrections, text layout and design, proofreading of formatted proofs, and final approval of definitive versions.
  3. Post-publication, involving technical processes for generating additional journal reading formats (e.g., HTML, XML, e-Pub), supplementary formats (e.g., videos, podcasts, infographics), and indexing of published content in databases, directories, or repositories to increase journal visibility.

Authors submitting a manuscript must meet essential conditions and understand key submission concepts.

Conditions for Manuscript Submission

Submission Process. All manuscripts intended for publication must be uploaded to the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform: OJS Submission Link. The submission file should be in Microsoft Word format.

To formalize any submission, authors must attach the following documents:

  • Letter of commitment
  • Conflict of interest form

Originality
The journal seeks to publish original articles that have not been previously published in other journals or by other publishers, and whose publication rights are not otherwise encumbered. Authors are requested to refrain from submitting articles that have already been formally published elsewhere.

Similarly, the use of text from other sources or authors, images, or graphic components (such as figures and tables) that have been previously published without the proper permissions for reproduction or publication in a submitted manuscript is not acceptable. Authors are urged to take special care not to infringe upon copyright protections of copyrighted works or texts and to avoid their use without authorization.

Similarity Verification (Anti-plagiarism Software)
All manuscripts submitted to the journal will be subjected to an anti-plagiarism software review to detect any particular similarities or potentially improper use of other sources after successfully passing the document verification phase for formal entry into the process. If issues are detected, authors may be required to make clarifications or corrections; manuscripts may also be rejected at this stage if a significant originality or copyright issue is found.

Prior Publication in Repositories (Pre-prints)
The journal supports open science practices; therefore, the publication of manuscripts as pre-prints in a subject repository or open-access repository is permitted. However, if authors have published a pre-print version in a repository, they must inform the journal and provide specific locating details (DOI, URL) of that version, which has not undergone peer review.

Simultaneous Submission, Content Reliability, and Ethics
Authors submitting a manuscript to the journal must declare in a commitment letter (download the form) that the manuscript has not been simultaneously submitted to another journal or publisher for consideration. Authors agree to await the journal's decision on the manuscript before submitting it elsewhere (in the event of rejection).

Additionally, authors must declare that the manuscript has been written following research ethics, copyright respect, and scientific integrity principles; any ethical dilemmas or issues in this regard are the authors' responsibility.

ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor IDentifier)
Registration in ORCID is a requirement for all authors; Inquietud Empresarial will not process submissions from authors who are not registered with ORCID. Registration can be completed here:

https://orcid.org/register

During the ORCID registration process, the Editorial Team requires that at least three fields be completed: institutional affiliation (Employment), academic degrees (Education and qualifications), and publications (Works). These fields must be made publicly accessible by the authors for transparency purposes.

In the commitment letter, all authors must provide their ORCID and include their primary professional affiliation, which will appear in the manuscript if it is accepted for publication.

Authorship
According to the criteria proposed by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the journal considers an author to be an individual who meets all four of the following conditions:

  1. Makes substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work.
  2. Drafts the work or critically revises it for important intellectual content.
  3. Approves the final version of the work to be published.
  4. Is accountable for all aspects of the work and can address questions regarding its accuracy, integrity, or any of its parts.

Before submitting a manuscript to the journal, authors should understand and adhere to these authorship criteria to prevent the inclusion of individuals who do not meet these criteria or the exclusion of those who do.

Author Contributions

To clearly establish the contributions of each author to a manuscript, authors are required to provide a statement of individual contributions according to the CRediT taxonomy.

The CRediT taxonomy encompasses fourteen specific criteria used to define author roles:

  • Conceptualization
  • Data Curation
  • Formal Analysis
  • Funding Acquisition
  • Investigation
  • Methodology
  • Project Administration
  • Resources
  • Software
  • Supervision
  • Validation
  • Visualization
  • Writing (Original Draft)
  • Writing (Review & Editing)

Each author’s contributions should be listed in a single paragraph that includes their name and corresponding CRediT roles. For example:

Author Contributions

Carlos Martinez: Conceptualization, Formal Analysis, Investigation, Resources, Supervision, Writing (Original Draft), Writing (Review & Editing); Sandra Pérez: Data Curation, Formal Analysis, Funding Acquisition, Investigation, Methodology, Software, Visualization, Writing (Original Draft), Writing (Review & Editing); Laura Sánchez: Conceptualization, Project Administration, Resources, Writing (Original Draft), Writing (Review & Editing).

Further details on the CRediT taxonomy can be consulted at the following link:

Changes to Author Group

Any changes to the authorship group of an article post-submission must be fully justified and explained. Changes to co-authorship, such as adding or removing authors, should preferably be avoided.

If, under special circumstances, authors wish to modify the authorship group, they must submit a letter to the journal’s editor detailing the context and rationale for the change. This letter must be signed by all co-authors and by the author directly affected, indicating agreement with the proposed change.

The corresponding author is responsible for submitting this letter. However, a copy must be sent to each co-author’s personal email, and the journal will individually verify each co-author’s consent regarding the contents of the letter.

Failure to correctly and consensually manage authorship changes may lead to serious ethical, copyright, or even legal repercussions for the involved parties.

Finally, in cases of unresolved or inadequately justified authorship dilemmas, the journal reserves the right to terminate the manuscript’s review process unilaterally at any stage.

Corresponding Author

For manuscripts with multiple authors, a corresponding author must be designated. This individual is responsible for communicating with the journal throughout each phase of the publication process: editorial screening, peer review, substantive and formal revisions, preparation for production, copyediting, design and formatting, and post-publication.

In addition to providing a unique bibliographic name, ORCID, current institutional affiliation, and email, the corresponding author must include an institutional (not personal) physical address for correspondence, complete with detailed address information (street, city, and country).

Institutional Affiliation

All authors of a manuscript must declare their institutional affiliation. This should include the specific academic area (e.g., department, faculty, school), the primary organization (e.g., university, research center), city and country where the institution is located, and preferably an institutional email address.

Authors may include multiple institutional affiliations if desired, with each affiliation marked by a superscript number. Where affiliations are shared across authors, the corresponding superscript should be added to each author. Example:

Carlos Rodríguez-Hernández¹,², Sandra Pérez², Laura Sánchez³, Michael Sullivan¹,³

1 First affiliation, city, and country.

2 Second affiliation, city, and country.

3 Third affiliation, city, and country.

However, it is recommended to avoid multiple affiliations by selecting the main one most directly related to the manuscript, such as the affiliation of the funding institution.

Should an author wish to change their affiliation after submission, a letter explaining the change must be provided. This letter should confirm from a legal representative or authority of the former institution that the work does not have encumbered proprietary rights via a specific project or funding arrangement.

The journal will review each affiliation change request individually, conducting necessary verifications and making a final determination. Unresolved or insufficiently justified requests may prevent publication of the manuscript.
