School Dropout in a Rural Setting in the Post-conflict. Case Study: Educational Institution in the Department of Caquetá

Abstract

This research focuses on the area of adolescent education, based on determining and analyzing the causes of school dropout in students in the rural sector of an area attacked by violence and in transition to return to institutional legality, department of Caquetá. Its methodological design is focused on a qualitative approach, its scope is descriptive and interpretative because it narrates the reasons why students abandon their academic work and teachers contrast and conclude the causes of the phenomenon, the time of realization is the first period of 2024 of a rural educational institution that has 12 seats and 23 teachers. The collection of information was done using techniques such as observation and interview. The instruments used were a student observation form and an open interview with teachers who belong to the institution; with which the analysis of the observation was carried out and the causes of school dropout in the rural context of post-conflict zones were determined. Among the main conclusions of the study was that the factors that are influencing school dropout are: personal, family, social, economic, educational and above all lack of job opportunities.  As recommendations to mitigate these aspects, especially those that have to do with factors associated with the academy, is to establish school transportation for students who wish to continue studying, but their lack of transportation and remoteness hinder their constant permanence in the institution.
