Cuestiones de Filosofía N°31 vol. 8 Full Version

Abstract

The present volume is dedicated to inter-cultural philosophical reflection and, therefore, with his own name, to Raúl Fornet-Betancourt, a prominent figure in this field of contemporary thinking in Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe. It is largely thanks to Prof. Fornet-Betancourt that the voice of the Spanish-speaking peoples of America is currently heard as the expression of a way of thinking that, without abandoning the deep and broad knowledge of tradition, assumes new problems and objects of reflection, as well as permanent and ancient dilemmas of human existence, from a perspective of dialogue between cultures. This perspective, open to the creative sensitivity of the rich Afro-descendant, indigenous and European mixture that configures the broad spiritual ethos of Central America, the Caribbean and Latin America, speaks to the world from its own perspective that does not confine itself within its own limits, but, on the contrary, dares to enter into dialogue with other cultures on the past of the world, of today and of what is already coming in the present. This is the legacy that Prof. Fornet-Betancourt has been building for some years now, and which serves as a frame of reference for most of the articles that make up this special issue of our journal in his honor.
