Abstract

This article presents a reflection about the importance that themanagement of knowledge has (tacit and explicit) in the  companies- where information is an important input-. Standing out how it can be identified and taken, according to the new Japanese approach based on the individualworker-which contrasts with the American pragmatism-, where the vision of the companies as organizations “that learn”, capable of generating competitive advantages, through the knowledge in research,  development and technological innovation. This essay is exploratory and it is supported on the existing “state of art”. To illustrate the advances of the management of knowledge in Colombia of the results of recent studies of prestigious researchers and university teachers, Maria de los Angeles Briceño and Cesar Bernal.
