La relación del turismo y la geografía para el desarrollo de actividades deportivas: un análisis bibliométrico

Resumen

El turismo y la geografía guardan una relación directa y las condiciones del territorio pueden promover el desarrollo de actividades turísticas particulares como el turismo deportivo. Sin embargo, aún no es claro cómo se configura el turismo deportivo y los aspectos geográficos para visibilizar impactos y direccionadores de este tipo de turismo en un territorio. En este sentido, el objetivo del presente estudio es comprender cómo se relacionan el turismo y la geografía para el desarrollo de actividades deportivas. Para el cumplimiento del objetivo de este artículo, se realizó un análisis bibliométrico utilizando un enfoque mixto secuencial cuanti-cuali. En la fase cuantitativa, a partir de una ecuación de búsqueda, se analizaron 734 registros a través del software VOSviewer, que permitió identificar el mapa de conocimiento y tendencias de la relación entre turismo deportivo y geografía. Así mismo, el enfoque cuantitativo arrojó los clústeres de conocimiento que sirvieron como base para la fase cualitativa, la cual privilegió la estrategia de análisis descriptivo de discurso, en donde se seleccionaron 101 documentos con la metodología PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses). El estudio arrojó importantes hallazgos sobre la relación del turismo y la geografía para el desarrollo de actividades deportivas, en donde las condiciones ambientales, físicas, económicas y socioculturales son los elementos que más influyen en la relación. Los resultados permiten una mayor comprensión sobre el fenómeno en estudio y podrían ser tomados como punto de partida para el desarrollo de estudios empíricos en diferentes contextos.
