Entrepreneurial Intention in University Students in Colombia: A Bibliometric Study

Abstract

The phenomenon of entrepreneurial intention in Colombia represents a promising area of study that necessitates a comprehensive approach, integrating elements of education, knowledge transfer, institutional support, and the creation of environments conducive to the development of new businesses. The objective of this study is to develop a bibliometric analysis of research on entrepreneurial intention among young university students in Colombia. The methodology employs three databases—Web of Science, Scopus, and Redalyc—to retrieve data on entrepreneurial intention using search equations incorporating bibliometric operators. The results of the bibliometric mapping are visualised using VOSviewer, with particular emphasis on the analysis of co-occurrence, author citations and publications. The results demonstrate that research output has increased over the past five years, with the most prevalent approaches being those related to entrepreneurship, education, attitudes and motivations. Three scenarios of analysis are identified in accordance with the findings of the consulted authors, namely the behaviour of the individual, the capacity to act and the university environment. Finally, a comprehensive overview of the bibliographical production on entrepreneurial intention is presented, which provides a foundation for future work on a topic of interest that can inform future research.
