Impact of interactive applications in the teaching of French phonetics

Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine the impact of applications in learning French phonetics through songs, using interactive applications (LearningApps and Educaplay). The study was developed within the framework of action research, a mixed approach, and the interpretative paradigm. To achieve this, a survey was conducted to identify the most problematic French phonemes for students pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Foreign Languages at the Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia (UPTC). The improvement of phonemes was assessed through a second instrument, thanks to the use of interactive applications. The results showed an improvement in the internalization of problematic French phonemes, as well as increased interest in class participation due to the role of music in the French learning process. Furthermore, this study highlighted the importance of autonomous learning and immediate self-correction enabled by these applications.
