Translation Errors of Egyptian Students in Informative Journalistic Texts

Abstract

This article addresses the concept of pedagogical translation and the difficulties of Spanish/Arabic journalistic translation and its close relationship with the mistakes made by students. The descriptive method is used to analyze the most common mistakes of second-year students enrolled in the Spanish-Arabic Journalistic Translation course at the University of Ain Shams. The results obtained show that there is a predominance of expression errors. Among the factors that affect these mistakes are the lack of dedication, and their lack of knowledge of the necessary resources (encyclopedias, dictionaries, etc.). Therefore, students need to improve their translation skills, especially linguistic skills. Finally, we hope to offer some results that could be used for the training of translators in Spanish to Arabic translation classes, because this process still faces different challenges.
