Cláusulas relativas con doble antecedente nominal en español: un recorrido experimental
Resumen
Un supuesto recurrente en la psicolingüística es que ciertos principios universales de economía computacional guían las decisiones estructurales tomadas durante el procesamiento oracional. El primer estudio realizado en español sobre decisiones de adjunción (Cuetos & Mitchell, 1988) puso en duda la existencia de dichos principios al presentar evidencia de que los hablantes de español prefieren utilizar una estrategia de cierre temprano o adjunción alta para resolver la interpretación de oraciones con cláusulas relativas con doble antecedente nominal. Desde aquel entonces se han hecho varias investigaciones que aportan evidencia no siempre consistente. En este artículo se presenta una revisión exhaustiva y crítica de los estudios sobre el español, se examinan las diversas metodologías utilizadas y la influencia de distintos factores en el procesamiento sintáctico. Asimismo, se analizan las implicancias de estos hallazgos para los modelos de procesamiento oracional y se debate la posibilidad de considerar principios universales.
