Intergenerationality and interculturality in rural education experiences

Abstract

This article intertwines the educational expectations of the community that inhabits the Sur del Tolima Irrigation District (DRTT) with the review of 8 peasant educational experiences and 5 of rural higher education that constitute references to build a proposal for agroecological rural higher education for the DRTT.  The categories of analysis, as much as for the interviews carried out with local residents, and for the experiences studied are interculturality and intergenerationality. The principles, curricula and methodologies of the experiences are presented, which are in line with the expectations and contributions provided by the local actors. These experiences are a fundamental reference to take into account, since they are characterized by being critical intercultural issues, insofar as they transcend the schooling of the rural inhabitants, they seek and achieve a differential and / or their own education, which responds to the needs, interests and dreams of the communities, in addition to recognizing ancestral knowledge, they encourage the participation of young people and women, they are linked to the organizations and social movements of the territory and some have an ethnic-cultural component.
