Teaching practices in the training of dance artists at the Faculty of Arts ASAB

Abstract

This research article presents partial results of a study on the relationship between knowledge and teaching practices in the training of dance artists in the program offered by the Francisco José de Caldas District University. This training implies the insertion of the novices in the set of rules and techniques that define and guide the practice of this art. For the analysis of this connection, a documentary corpus was constructed—academic texts, interviews with professors, and course programs. The notions of knowledge and practice were approached from the archaeological-genealogical perspective. The article is divided into three parts: description of the methodological aspects; the main findings regarding the knowledge that frames and organizes the teaching practices in the curricular program, especially those related to dance, pedagogy, and didactics; and some conclusions about the joint between knowledge and teaching practice, a key element to understand professional training in the normative and institutional framework of the university.
